Who is kate nash dating

Kate Nash was happy to come back down to earth with a bump after spending a year promoting her first album around the world.

Initially discovered via My Space, she enjoyed a huge hit single with Foundations in 2007, topped the charts with debut album Made Of Bricks and won best female artist at the Brits in 2008.

But, at 19, she found it hard to cope with sudden success.

Inspired by American punk rock and classic girl groups like The Shirelles and The Supremes, it signals a significant departure from the perky, teenage pop of her debut.

‘I love them because they made simple songs sound incredibly emotional,’ says Kate.

‘I went from living at home with my parents to living out of a suitcase.

I got depressed and found myself drinking to relax.’ Over lunch in a North London gastro-pub, Kate is her old, chatty self again.

The singer admits she ‘went a bit crazy’ after her world tour — she would leave her flat and then rush back to fold a tea towel — but adds that friends and family helped her to cope with any obsessive-compulsive leanings.

Among those to lend a hand was Ryan Jarman, of Yorkshire indie-rockers The Cribs, who has been Kate’s steady boyfriend since the pair met on Jools Holland’s music TV show, Later.

A former Brits School student, she had been working in a branch of River Island in Watford before hitting the charts, and she found the transition an awkward one.
